¿Cuáles son los síntomas de la Covid-19?

Descubre los síntomas habituales y como protegerte

Fever.

Cough.

Shortness of breath.

In some cases, there may also be a loss of smell and taste, chills, a sore throat, muscle aches, headache, general weakness, diarrhoea or vomiting.

Most cases are mild. There are also cases that do not present symptoms (asymptomatic).

In the most severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, significant breathing difficulties, kidney failure and even death. The most severe cases generally occur in older people or those with chronic conditions, such as heart or lung disease or conditions that affect the immune system, but they can also occur in some younger people.

In some cases, symptoms and after-effects can persist for several weeks or even months.

What can I do to protect myself?

General measures for personal protection against Covid include:

Wear a face mask both outdoors and indoors.

Wash your hands frequently (with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitisers).

When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your bent elbow.

Use disposable tissues, throw them away following use and wash your hands immediately afterwards.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, as hands facilitate transmission.

Maintain a physical distance of at least 1.5 metres from other people.

Take care with frequently touched surfaces and clean them regularly.

Prioritise the use of outdoor spaces.

Ventilate enclosed spaces frequently.
