Heavy rain warning

Follow these recommendations:

  • Check weather conditions.
  • Close and secure doors, windows and awnings.
  • Avoid coastal areas affected by high tides.
  • Stay away from ledges, walls, trees or dilapidated buildings.
  • Remove any loose outdoor objects that could blow away.
  • Avoid road travel.

Severe storm warning

Follow these recommendations:

  • Secure doors, windows and anything else that might fall onto the street.
  • Stay away from ledges, walls, buildings under construction, rivers and low-lying areas on hillsides.
  • Do not take shelter under trees and stay away from fences or metal objects.
  • If you have to evacuate your home, move your most essential belongings to the upper floors.

Fire warning

Follow these recommendations:

  • If you are required to evacuate your home, close all windows and external shutters.
  • After the incident, take photographs of the damage to your property and draw up an inventory of it.
  • Keep all receipts for any expenses relating to your claim.
  • Avoid road travel.

Flood warning

Follow these recommendations:

  • Find the highest point on your property and work out how to get there.
  • Remove any objects that could be swept away by water.
  • Close and secure all windows and external doors.
  • Turn off the main electricity and water supplies, and do not touch any electrical appliances.
  • When you are able to return to your home, take photographs of the damage.

Heatwave warning

Follow these recommendations:

  • Avoid being out in the sun during the middle of the day.
  • Drink plenty of water and eat foods with high water content (fruit, salads, vegetables, etc.).
  • Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, clothing, sunshades, etc.
  • Wear light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing and a head covering.
  • Avoid exercise during the hottest parts of the day.
  • Check on elderly, vulnerable, or isolated neighbours and relatives.
  • Never leave children or elderly people inside a vehicle.
  • Keep indoor spaces well ventilated.

Heavy snowfall warning

Follow these recommendations:

  • Check the road conditions before setting off.
  • Ensure your mobile is charged and/or that you have a spare battery.
  • Fit snow chains when snow begins to settle on the road.
  • Keep drinking water inside the car, and store blankets and tinned food in the boot.
  • Keep your car's fuel tank full.

Coastal hazard warning

Follow these recommendations:

  • Call the Maritime Rescue Service on 900 202 202.
  • Scan the area for nearby vessels if you need to signal for assistance.
  • If you're going out on the water, ensure everyone has a life jacket and warm clothing.
  • Keep only essential crew on deck and ensure all other passengers remain seated inside the cabin.
  • Secure any objects that might move.
  • Ensure all deck hatches and storage lockers are securely closed.
  • Crawl to move around on deck, if necessary.
